Dr. Peter Brownrigg describes how 3D Vectra imaging allows patients to preview their plastic surgery results. The picture can also be printed to a 3D, life-size model. He strives to use this tool to provide realistic expectations.
The 3D Vectra system is a camera system where I'm able to take photographs and turn it into a 3D picture. Then we can modify that to show a patient what we can achieve. In fact, now we have the ability to take the 3D image and can use a printer to print off their face, an actual life-size model.
When you're imaging people, it has to be done by the surgeon who's doing the surgery. I certainly use this tool, and people find it very good. However, if I'm imaging someone, I'm going to image them very conservatively. I want them to come back after and say, "My God, I'm better than the image was." I want to hit a home run every time.
