Experience and Training
Dr. Brownrigg completed his undergraduate training at the University of Ottawa, where he earned his BSc (biology degree) in 1976. He went on to study medicine at the University of Ottawa, graduating in 1980.
He completed his internship at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, B.C., and went into general practice in Esquimalt, B.C. in 1981. In 1982, Dr. Brownrigg left his private practice to begin his general surgery residency at the University of Ottawa, which he completed in 1984.
At this point, his interest in becoming a facial cosmetic plastic surgeon began to crystallize. After his general surgery residency, he completed a three-year otolaryngology (face and neck surgery) residency at the University of Toronto. He left Ontario to further perfect his craft as a plastic surgeon, heading to the Oregon Health Sciences University for a Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship, which he concluded in 1988.
Currently, Dr. Brownrigg is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and a staff member at the Civic, Riverside, General Hospital. He is also a staff member at the Ottawa Surgicentre, a state-of-the-art accredited facility which offers general anesthesia and sedation.
