General Cosmetic Surgery Information About Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)
Have you ever thought about getting a nose job, technically known as the cosmetic procedure known as rhinoplasty? Some people have been famous for their noses. Jimmy Durante, Bob Hope, Barbara Streisand, and other Hollywood stars, for example, have been known and loved for their “beaks.”
However, as a general rule, most people don’t want to go through life with a strangely shaped or uncommonly huge nose. Thanks to cosmetic surgery and a good plastic surgeon---nobody has to go through life anymore with a nose they don’t like.
Rhinoplasty, or a nose job as it is more commonly called, is a plastic surgery procedure that is among the top five most popular types of cosmetic surgery performed in the United States every year. Rhinoplasty can improve both the appearance and proportions of your face, as well as improve your breathing on some cases. The shape and size of your nose is usually largely influenced by heredity, although accident or trauma can alter the appearance of your nose.
Here are some of the things that a nose job by a cosmetic surgeon can do:
- Change the size of your nose
- Change the width of your nose at the bridge
- Change the profile of your nose and improve the appearance of humps or depressions on the bridge of the nose
- Change a large or bulbous nasal tip
- Change a nose that is either drooping downward or too upturned
- Change nostrils that are overly large, too wide or upturned
- Change and correct asymmetry of your nose
If you are over the age of 13 and your facial growth is complete, and if you are in overall good health with realistic expectations about what plastic surgery in general and rhinoplasty in particular can do for you, then you are probably a good candidate for this procedure.
